1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special (A1801861) Calypso Coral in 1/18 Scale model by ACME (New)
Story of the car:
Not a lot is known about the ’70 Sidewinder Special. It was one of many territory specials created during the first generation of Mustangs and was built and sold in the Nebraska/Iowa area. Research from the Ford Motor Company files identify a real Sidewinder as all having the 351/4V engine, all are sports roofs and built in Dearborn, Michigan. The Sidewinder Special was a Ford sales promotion, not a dealer-only offering. Original owners speak of the stripe kit box (with a Ford part number) shipped with their car and packed in the trunk. Dealer body men also confirm mounting Sidewinder stripe kits on final delivery to customers.
The 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special is a rare and unique version of the iconic muscle car, featuring distinctive graphics and exclusive options. Produced in limited numbers, the Sidewinder Special is recognized by its bold "Sidewinder" decal on the rear quarter panel, along with other unique styling cues. Under the hood, the Mach 1 packed powerful V8 engine options, delivering the performance that the Mustang is known for. With its combination of rarity, striking appearance, and muscle car performance, the 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special is a prized collector's item.
